The Piano Awards Returns in 2026

The Piano Awards Returns in 2026

At Soundskool, performance is an essential part of learning music. It builds confidence, focus, and personal expression alongside technical growth.

The Piano Awards was created to give piano students a dedicated platform to perform independently and be recognized for their musical progress.

This year, The Piano Awards will be held separately for Phnom Penh and Siem Reap students, ensuring a focused and supportive performance experience at each campus.

About the Competition

The Piano Awards is a solo piano performance competition that highlights individual musicianship. Each student performs one selected piece on piano, allowing their preparation, musicality, and confidence to take center stage.

The competition is open to students across three age categories:

  • 5–8 years old
  • 9–12 years old
  • 13 years old and above

For each city, one winner will be selected per age category.

Performance Guidelines

Each participant will prepare one solo piano performance following these guidelines:

  • Minimum length: 1 minute
  • Format: Piano solo only (no backing tracks, no duets)
  • Accepted genres: Classical, film music, or jazz

At the beginning of the performance, students introduce their name and the title of the piece.

The Piano Awards is dedicated exclusively to solo piano performances. Students interested in performances with backing tracks are encouraged to explore our other music competitions.

Competition Structure

First Round: Video Submission

The first stage of The Piano Awards is conducted through video submission. Performances must be recorded in one continuous take without editing. Videos may be recorded at home or at school.

Final Round: Live Performance

Students selected from the first round will be invited to perform live at their respective campuses in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap.

The final round will take place during an open event in front of a judge and audience, creating a meaningful and supportive performance environment.

🎹 Final round date: 22 March 2026
📍 Venues: Phnom Penh (BKK) Campus & Siem Reap Campus

At the end of each campus event, winners will be announced for each age category.

Awards and Recognition

  • Winners will receive trophies, certificates of achievement and prizes
  • All finalists will receive a certificate of recognition

These awards recognize not only performance quality but also the commitment and discipline required to prepare and perform solo repertoire.

The Piano Awards reflects Soundskool’s belief that musical growth is built through consistency, preparation, and the courage to perform.

We look forward to celebrating our students’ achievements and sharing their music with families and the wider community in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
