Frédéric Chopin, the Polish French composer and pianist of the romantic period, is best known for his solo piano pieces.

With the establishment of an independent Polish state in 1918, Szymanowski became deeply interested in the Polish folk idiom and tried to create a Polish national style, a task unattempted since Chopin. Finally, the young Cambodian composer Bosba Panh identifies herself as a Cambodian raised, Western-educated composer. Influenced by French expressionism, European sacred music and American minimalism
