2nd Night of European Music Cultures II 2025 – Piano Music in European Salons

On the second day of the festival, audiences will embark on a journey through the salons and coffee houses of Europe with Giovanni De Cecco at the piano.

The evening begins in Leipzig at Zimmermann’s Coffee House, with J.S. Bach/Vivaldi’s Concerto in F major, BWV 978. From there, the program travels to London’s Carlisle House for J.C. Bach’s Sonata Op. 5 No. 6 in C minor, a work of elegance and charm.

Berlin’s salon scene comes alive with C.P.E. Bach’s Sonata IV in A major, Wq. 55/4, a piece that bridges the Baroque and Classical styles with grace. The recital concludes in Paris with the witty and refined Spécimen de mon temps, Memento homo, and other works by Gioacchino Rossini — proof that the composer’s talents extended far beyond the opera stage.
